Assessment and repositioning for BPPV
Brief episodes of spinning triggered by rolling over in bed, lying back or getting up can sometimes be caused by benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). We review your symptoms and use positional testing to assess whether displaced inner-ear crystals are likely to be responsible. When appropriate, Kevin can perform a canalith repositioning manoeuvre, such as the Epley manoeuvre, to help move the crystals back into place. As not all dizziness is caused by BPPV, we will explain the findings clearly and recommend medical referral when symptoms suggest another cause.
